Picosocial the story starts

I know the federated social web from the begining. I remember identi.ca kind of competitor of twitter becoming status.net.  that become GnuSocial But the first big project that still exists today is friendi.ca The pioneers was Ivan Prodromou and Mike Macgirvin

Anyway today the fediverse has an history and we have many software to install if we like to be sovereign we should have technical skills. Installing a server, making it uptodate and managing it is not so easy. 

How to install such server in a share hosting web? It was not really possible. Huge data is stored.

As I wanted to know more I keep the link and later try it. first try was on yunohost. But the result was not ok. The second try was on a share hosting server. And the result was better. This page of code was the only things we need to have a fediverse id and communicate with the fediverse. Of course this page was not ready to be in production. It was only as an example or proof of concept.

Last week I was motivated to dive in that code and had the idea to improve a little bit to make it  more usable. That was the story how picosocial starts. Now the code is not ready to be shared but soon I like to publish it. First I want to know if it is usable by someone else. The goal is to have a simple small activitypub server with one account. The idea is that server keep only data for a short period. I noticed that on the fediverse once a message is published the value of the data diminushed quickly. After one week it is old. So if we keep few days we a small server can be used. let's say 100M And automatic cleaning is in progress .... if you are curious, If you like to test it with me. you can add my account @social25@social25.aga.ovh
