Here are a few words about Mulhouse, which has organized a week of fasting and prayer every year since 1995.
The idea is to pray, seek God, and listen to messages of encouragement. This year, the guest speaker was Eric Toumieux, founder of Beer Sheba in Senegal (a reforestation and agriculture project).
The goal was to shift one's perspective, seek God without expecting anything in return. In short, to have a vacation for God. Meetings were held in the morning at 9:30 and then again at 12:15. There was a break in the afternoon, and the evening meeting was at 7:00 PM.
In the morning, between 1,000 and 1,500 people came to pray, change their minds, praise, and worship God. In the evening, the number increased slightly. After a period of adjustment, one could focus on what was most important. The noise level was extremely high, and I had to find a spot with the lowest possible decibels. But everywhere, the sound was loud.
The presence of God is something special. You have to experience it to understand it. Words cannot describe it. While we see things deteriorating everywhere in areas like the economy, family, etc., the spiritual realm is progressing. People are thirsting for God. It was a bit like the beginning of a revival.
This week's guest was Eric Toumieux, founder of Beer Sheba, an agroecology project in Senegal. According to him, Christians should be creative and proactive in projects to change the world. Evangelizing and providing concrete assistance is his final message, which he summarizes as "turn on your lights."
In the gloom of winter, it was a welcome opportunity to find renewed motivation.
